Takeo: Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet has expressed his hope that the upcoming traditional New Year celebrations will be safe and free from traffic accidents. At the groundbreaking ceremony of the Funan Techo Integrated Water Resources Management Project - Section II in Takeo province this morning, Samdech Thipadei called on all citizens to pay close attention to road safety.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Prime Minister stressed that the absence of police patrols does not justify reckless behaviour, particularly drunk driving. 'You cannot escape responsibility if you drink and cause a traffic accident. Everyone must be accountable,' he said. He emphasised that while traffic accidents may occur, those caused by drunk driving must be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law.
Samdech Thipadei also pointed out that although modern vehicles are equipped with advanced safety features, they primarily protect those inside the vehicle, while others on the road remain vulnerable. 'Your car may be modern and protect you, but you must not endanger or harm others. If you cause an accident, you will be held responsible under the law,' he underlined.
He further urged drivers not to misuse modern vehicles irresponsibly, reiterating that anyone who drives under the influence and causes harm must face legal consequences.
