SEOUL, Hanmi Pharm. Co. on Tuesday reported its first-quarter net profit of 63.2 billion won (US$45.8 million), up 27.2 percent from a year earlier.

Operating profit for the January-March period was 76.6 billion won, up 27.9 percent from a year ago, the company said in a regulatory filing. Revenue rose 11.8 percent to 403.7 billion won.

The earnings beat market expectations. The average estimate of net profit by analysts stood at 43.3 billion won, according to a survey by Yonhap Infomax, the financial data firm of Yonhap News Agency.
