Phnom penh: The Australian Government has announced US$250,000 in humanitarian assistance to support communities in Cambodia displaced by the border conflict. The aid aims to address immediate needs and help stabilize the affected populations.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Australian Embassy in Cambodia, through Oxfam in Cambodia, will facilitate the distribution of the assistance, which includes clean water, sanitation, food, dignity kits, and emergency shelter. This initiative is part of an effort to alleviate the urgent needs of those impacted by the ongoing conflict.
'We hope displaced persons on both sides of the border can return home quickly,' the embassy stated, underscoring the desire for a swift resolution to the crisis. The assistance is a vital resource for those currently unable to return to their homes.
The Ministry of Interior reported that as of 6:00 p.m. on Jan. 1, a total of 103,177 displaced people had returned home, while 409,186 individuals, including 214,525 women and 131,413 children, remain at replacement sites, awaiting a safe return to their communities.
