Thbong khmum: The Thbong Khmum Provincial Administration has officially formed a sister city relationship with Rochester City in Minnesota, United States, with the intention of enhancing cooperation and exchanging experiences in key sectors to aid the province's development.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed during a ceremony held on March 9 in Thbong Khmum province by H.E. Pen Kosal, Governor of Thbong Khmum, and Ms. Bentley Sokunthea, President of the Friendship Alliance in Rochester, Minnesota. The event was attended by H.E. Koy Kuong, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Cambodia to the United States, along with a delegation of provincial officials and international guests.
During the event, H.E. Pen Kosal emphasized that the partnership would serve as a significant bridge for exchanging knowledge and experiences across various sectors to accelerate development in the province. He also noted that establishing a sister city alliance would enhance Thbong Khmum's international presence and open new opportunities for U.S. investment.
The Governor highlighted the economic potential in Thbong Khmum, particularly in the agricultural sector, which presents substantial opportunities for investment. Currently, more than 40 major investment companies are active in the province in sectors such as energy processing and agriculture.
In 2013, Phnom Penh and Cleveland City in Tennessee, United States, signed a Memorandum of Understanding for a sister-city relationship. Besides the United States, Cambodia has established sister-city partnerships with many cities in ASEAN member states, China, Japan, South Korea, France, and other countries.
