Phnom Penh:The Phnom Penh Capital Administration is set to deploy 600 buses to provide free transportation for individuals traveling from Phnom Penh to their hometowns and returning during the Pchum Ben festival.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, this five-day service, scheduled from October 9 to 13, 2026, has been organized under the directive of Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia. The initiative aims to alleviate travel expenses for residents during the traditional festival.

Of the 600 buses, 100 will continue to serve daily public transportation needs within Phnom Penh, including the Techo International Airport Express Bus service. The remaining 500 buses will be allocated for free travel to and from various hometowns, operating along six major routes.

This initiative is part of the Royal Government's annual efforts to ease financial burdens on citizens, providing secure and convenient transportation for those wishing to reunite with family and observe traditional customs. The service allows travelers to avoid transportation costs during this period.

Additionally, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet expressed his gratitude to the armed forces personnel for their dedication to national service and the wellbeing of the people. The provision of free bus services during major festivals such as Pchum Ben and the Khmer New Year is part of ongoing governmental support for citizens' travel needs.
