Phnom Penh:The Royal Government of Cambodia has initiated a cash-support program targeting poor, vulnerable, and at-risk households impacted by increasing fuel and gas prices, with the first payments commencing on September 25, 2026.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, this initiative is part of the government's broader intervention strategy aimed at addressing multiple crises. It seeks to alleviate the living-cost burden on vulnerable families and bolster Cambodia's social and economic resilience.

The program will provide financial assistance to approximately 4.6 million people across the country. Households with valid Equity Cards and Vulnerable Family Cards will receive this aid in addition to their existing benefits. Eligible households in Phnom Penh will receive 60,000 Riel per payment, with an extra 5,000 Riel per family member. In urban areas outside Phnom Penh, the payments will be 48,000 Riel plus 5,000 Riel per member. Rural households will receive 40,000 Riel, along with the same additional amount per family member.

Scheduled over four instalments in 2026, the payments will occur on September 25, October 16, November 16, and December 16. Minister of Information H.E. Neth Pheaktra emphasized that the program is designed to continuously ease the living-cost burden on families affected by the crises, particularly the pressure from fuel and gas prices.

The Ministry of Planning has finalized the list of eligible households, and the National Social Assistance Fund has organized the payments as per the announced schedule. Eligible families can collect their first instalment via WING agents nationwide from September 25.
