Phnom Penh:Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Acting Head of State of Cambodia, received H.E. Ms. Raylene Siale Tagaloa Liufalani, the newly appointed Ambassador of New Zealand to Cambodia, at the Senate's Solidarity Palace.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Hun Sen expressed his pleasure on behalf of His Majesty the King of Cambodia in welcoming the new Ambassador and congratulated her on her appointment. He also expressed confidence that her presence would strengthen and expand relations between the two nations.

Ambassador Liufalani appreciated the opportunity to present her credentials, noting the positive and growing relations between Cambodia and New Zealand. She admired Cambodia's rapid development and reflected on her previous visit with her husband two decades ago, remarking on the remarkable progress and resilience she observed.

The Ambassador also emphasized New Zealand's longstanding support for Cambodia, particularly in mine clearance and providing scholarships for Cambodian students. Approximately 1,000 Cambodian students have benefited from studying in New Zealand through these opportunities.

Hun Sen expressed appreciation for New Zealand's continued support, particularly in human resource development, and suggested that both governments explore potential areas for further cooperation, highlighting trade, the economy, and investment as key areas for enhancing bilateral ties. He acknowledged the increase in trade between the two countries and expressed hope for more New Zealand investment in Cambodia.

At the meeting's conclusion, Hun Sen wished Ambassador Liufalani success in her mission as New Zealand's Ambassador to Cambodia.
