Phnom penh: The National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) and the Central Bank of Uzbekistan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in cross-border payment systems between Cambodia and Uzbekistan. The agreement was finalized on August 25 during the Silk Road Finance and Technology Forum held from August 24 to 26 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the MoU was signed by H.E. Dr. Chea Serey, Governor of NBC, and H.E. Timur Ishmetov, Governor of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan. The MoU aims to foster bilateral cooperation through the exchange of knowledge and experience in several key areas. These areas include the development of digital payment and settlement systems, monetary policy, monitoring of macroeconomic conditions, financial climate improvement, and management of economic and monetary museum operations.

The expanded cooperation is poised to strengthen economic, financial, trade, and tourism relations between the two countries, while also supporting regional and international financial integration. The collaboration will cover aspects such as monetary policy, payment systems, financial inclusion, and monetary heritage.
