New York:Mali's Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdoulaye Diop, has commended Morocco for its leadership in establishing the African Convention on the Disarmament, Demobilization, and Reintegration of Child Soldiers.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Diop made these remarks following a ceremony marking the signing phase of the Convention in New York. He described the legal instrument, which was developed and conceived by Africans, as significant.

Diop emphasized that Mali is pleased to be fully involved in this Convention, highlighting that it offers a suitable framework for exchanging experiences and best practices among African countries.

The signing phase of the Convention was inaugurated by around twenty African States at the ministerial level. The ceremony, chaired by Morocco's Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, took place at the headquarters of Morocco's Permanent Mission to the United Nations, coinciding with the high-level week of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
