Phnom penh: Cambodia’s Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training this morning released a statement condemning the sexual violence and the use of brutality committed recently by Thai black-uniformed soldiers against a group of Cambodian migrant workers returning home from Thailand.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the ministry expressed its strong disapproval of the actions taken by the Thai soldiers, which targeted Cambodian nationals. The statement emphasized the importance of safeguarding the rights and safety of migrant workers and called for appropriate measures to be taken against those responsible.
The ministry urged relevant Thai authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the incidents and ensure justice for the victims. It also called for enhanced cooperation between Cambodia and Thailand to prevent such occurrences in the future and to promote the protection of migrant workers’ rights.
The statement reflects ongoing concerns about the treatment of Cambodian migrant workers abroad, highlighting the need for strengthened bilateral agreements and protective measures.
