Japan’s Yazaki to Boost Cambodia Auto Parts Output with New Plant Expansion

Phnom penh: The Cambodian Investment Board (CIB) of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) has announced a significant expansion of Japanese manufacturing in the Kingdom, as Yazaki (Cambodia) Products Co., Ltd. prepares to increase its production capacity for automotive wiring harnesses and components.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, in a meeting held Tuesday at the CDC in Phnom Penh, H.E. Chea Vuthy, Secretary General of the CIB, met with Mr. Yoshimoto Ito, Executive Officer of Yazaki Corporation, to discuss the progress of the company's operations in Koh Kong province. The expansion project is slated to begin production by late 2027. Key highlights of the investment include the creation of approximately 1,000 new jobs, bolstering the company's existing workforce of 2,000 in Koh Kong.

Yazaki, which has maintained a presence in Cambodia since 2010, continues to scale its operations despite global and regional economic headwinds. H.E. Chea Vuthy expressed full support for the project, noting that the reinvestment reflects strong investor confidence in the Cambodian Royal Government's economic policies. For his part, Mr. Ito expressed gratitude to the CDC for its ongoing facilitation of Yazaki's manufacturing processes.

The move underscores Cambodia's growing role in the regional automotive supply chain, particularly as Japanese firms look to diversify and strengthen their production bases within ASEAN.
