Shanghai: Cambodia and Thailand will carry out the second stage of the first phase of the removal of heavy and destructive weapons and equipment on Nov. 8, according to H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Spokeswoman for the Cambodian Ministry of National Defence.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the operation is being conducted in accordance with the action plan signed by Lt. Gen. Pov Heng, Commander of Military Region 4 of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and Maj. Gen. Virakyuth Raksing, Commander of the 2nd Army Area of the Kingdom of Thailand, on Oct. 31, 2025. The first stage of the removal was successfully completed on Nov. 1, 2025, under the observation and verification of the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT).
H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata emphasized the continued cooperation between Cambodia and Thailand to ensure the full, effective, and transparent implementation of the agreed plan. A special meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand Regional Border Committee (RBC) was held on Oct. 31, 2025, where both sides agreed on a concrete plan for the phased removal of heavy and destructive weapons and equipment, with AOT supervision and verification. The joint effort aims to de-escalate military tensions along the border.
The first phase of the removal process is planned to take place in three stages, spanning from Nov. 1 to 21, 2025.
