Cambodia Stands Firm Against Territorial Violations Linked to Cyber Scams

New york: A Cambodian official has addressed an international forum at the United Nations, articulating Cambodia's efforts to combat online scams while strongly rejecting any attempts to use cybercrime issues as a justification to infringe upon the country's territorial sovereignty.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Mr. Doeuk Vannarith, Minister Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Cambodia to the United Nations, made these remarks during the Second International Migration Review Forum (IMRF) held at the UN Headquarters in New York. Mr. Vannarith emphasized Cambodia's unwavering commitment to the comprehensive implementation of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM) through the National Implementation Plan 2024-2026, aiming to provide substantial benefits to both migrants and the broader society.

The Cambodian representative also underscored the Royal Government's all-encompassing efforts to tackle evolving transnational organized crimes. This includes the recent enactment of the Law on Combating Technology-Enabled Scams, reflecting Cambodia's robust response to cybercriminal activities. However, Mr. Vannarith made it clear that Cambodia rejects any notions of using online scam issues as a pretext for territorial violations or aggressive actions against the nation.
