Cambodia Set to Enhance Export Procedures for U.S. Market

Phnom Penh: The Ministry of Commerce and related ministries in Cambodia are working on developing additional special procedures to enhance the export of goods to the U.S. market. This initiative focuses on improving mechanisms for monitoring the use of local content and value addition, ensuring adherence to the Law on Rules of Origin and the U.S. rules of origin.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Ministry of Commerce aims to safeguard the interests of Cambodian producers and exporters with this move. The ministry has announced that these new procedures will be unveiled soon, aiming to bolster transparency and compliance within the export sector.

Cambodia has reaffirmed its commitment to international trade rules and obligations, emphasizing its dedication to the principles set by the World Trade Organisation. The Law on Rules of Origin, enacted on July 5, 2023, is a testament to this commitment. This legislation seeks to promote trade preferences, implement non-preferential rules, and prevent origin fraud in goods.

The ministry has urged all producers and exporters targeting the U.S. market to heed this information and apply the forthcoming procedures diligently to ensure continued compliance and benefit from trade opportunities.
