Siem Reap:The U.S. Embassy in Cambodia recently held the 2026 EducationUSA Fair in Siem Reap, aiming to connect Cambodian students and their families with representatives and alumni from leading American higher education institutions.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the annual fair provided prospective students with insights into U.S. undergraduate and graduate programs in fields such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM), and artificial intelligence (AI). Attendees were also informed about U.S. educational standards, student visa policies, and application requirements, as well as post-graduation career opportunities back in Cambodia.

Ms. Katherine Diop, Counsellor for Public Affairs at the U.S. Embassy, highlighted the enduring appeal of U.S. educational institutions despite increasing global competition. She noted that as the United States celebrates its 250th anniversary of independence, American innovation continues to impact how people live, work, and connect globally.

Diop further emphasized that U.S. higher education reflects this spirit of innovation, offering expanded career opportunities and employability for Cambodian students, especially in STEM fields. She remarked on the importance of high-quality, internationally recognized education as Cambodia moves towards a knowledge- and technology-based economy.

Mr. Ly Bunna, Director of the Siem Reap Provincial Department of Education, Youth, and Sport, encouraged students to take advantage of the initiative, emphasizing the accessibility of global academic opportunities. He mentioned that the embassy provides substantial support to guide Cambodian students through the complexities of higher education.

In addition to U.S. government scholarship programs like Fulbright, the U.S. Embassy promotes local academic development through resources such as the American Corner at the University of South-East Asia in Siem Reap and the EducationUSA Advising Centre at Pa±±asastra University of Cambodia's Siem Reap campus.
