Trkiye Bolsters Cambodia’s Rural Development Through TIKA Projects

Phnom penh: The Republic of Trkiye continues its support for Cambodia's rural development and capacity-building initiatives through the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency's (TIKA) projects aimed at generating income, creating employment, and developing skills. Last week, three projects were inaugurated by TIKA representatives and the Turkish Ambassador, H.E. Ms. …€œlk Kocaefe, in collaboration with local partners.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the first project, 'Project on Empowering Agricultural Cooperatives through Sustainable Cashew Nut Processing in Cambodia,' is located in Kampong Cham province. This initiative, TIKA's second in the region, provides technical equipment to agricultural cooperatives for cashew production, processing, and packaging. The project is financed by TIKA and conducted by CIWODA and Speu Agricultural Cooperative.

The second initiative, also financed by TIKA and implemented in cooperation with CIWODA, is the 'Building Sustainable Income for Women in Cambodia through Swiftlets Nest Farming' in Kampong Thom. This project aims to support Cambodia's rural development by enhancing women's income-generating opportunities.

The third project, the 'Model Bakery and Pastry Classroom at the National Institute of Entrepreneurship and Innovation,' was recently inaugurated. This initiative seeks to contribute to Cambodia's human capacity-building efforts by providing young Cambodians with opportunities to develop skills and pursue careers.

Ambassador Kocaefe expressed Trkiye's pride in being a development partner of Cambodia, emphasizing that the development cooperation is a key pillar of their bilateral relations. She highlighted that the projects are aligned with the Royal Government's policy priorities, namely the Pentagonal Strategy, and represent a gesture of friendship and cooperation between the Turkish and Cambodian people.
