Spokesperson: Cambodian Forces Stand Strong and Vigilant

Phnom penh: Cambodian forces remain strong, vigilant, and committed to their duties while fully respecting and strictly implementing the ceasefire agreement, affirmed H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Under Secretary of State and Spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defence.

 

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, at a press briefing held at 11:00 a.m. today, H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata reported that as of 10:00 a.m. on Aug. 14, 2025, the situation along the frontlines in Military Regions 4 and 5-covering Preah Vihear, Oddar Meanchey, and Banteay Meanchey provinces-remained calm and stable.

 

She once again urged the Thai side to release the 18 Cambodian soldiers who were unlawfully detained just hours after the ceasefire came into effect at midnight on July 28, 2025.

 

Regarding the Interim Observer Team’s (IOT) on-site inspection mission, led by Col. Nazlee Bin Abdul Rahim, Defence Attach© of Malaysia to Cambodia, the spokesperson said the team arrived this morning in Military Region 5, Battambang province, where they received a briefing on the progress achieved since the ceasefire took effect.

 

After lunch, she added, the delegation will proceed to the Boeung Trakoun border checkpoint in Banteay Meanchey province to assess the security situation along the border and witness the direct impacts of the Cambodia-Thailand border conflict.
