Saudi Business Delegation Explores Business Opportunities in Cambodia

Phnom penh: A Saudi business delegation is visiting Cambodia to explore new opportunities for strengthening bilateral trade and investment cooperation between the two countries. On Sunday morning, H.E. Mrs. Cham Nimul, Minister of Commerce, received H.E. Waleed Nasser Alsheri, Chairman of the Saudi-Cambodia Business Council, along with a delegation from the Saudi Chamber of Commerce, at the Ministry of Commerce.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, during the meeting H.E. Mrs. Cham Nimul briefed the delegation on recent developments in Cambodia's economic and trade policies, as well as the Royal Government of Cambodia's ongoing efforts-coordinated by the Ministry of Commerce-to further improve the business environment, attract foreign investment, and enhance national competitiveness.

The Minister also invited Saudi businesses to consider investing in Cambodia's special economic zones, particularly in the production of halal products.

In response, H.E. Waleed Nasser Alsheri commended the progress of Cambodia's trade sector and informed the meeting of plans to organize an official visit by a Saudi business delegation to Cambodia in the future. He expressed appreciation for Cambodia's warm hospitality and highlighted that Cambodia serves as an important gateway for trade integration within the ASEAN region, with a development vision aligned with Saudi Vision 2030.

In conclusion, both sides reaffirmed their strong commitment to effectively implementing the action plan under the Memorandum of Understanding on the Promotion of Trade Relations between the Ministry of Commerce of Cambodia and the General Authority for Foreign Trade (GAFT) of Saudi Arabia.

They also expressed optimism that the establishment of the Saudi-Cambodia Business Council will further strengthen ties between the business communities of both countries, facilitating expanded trade and investment cooperation.
