Saudi Arabian Ambassador Expresses Optimism on Cambodia’s Role as ASEAN Gateway

Phnom penh: Cambodia has the potential to emerge as an important gateway to the ASEAN market, the outgoing Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Cambodia H.E. Mohammed Ismaeil A. Dahlwy said on Tuesday, applauding the Kingdom's rapid development and growing economic diversification.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Mohammed Ismaeil A. Dahlwy made the comments during a farewell meeting with H.E. Mrs. Cham Nimul, Minister of Commerce at the Ministry of Commerce on Jan. 6. During the meeting, the outgoing diplomat noted Cambodia's steady progress across a range of sectors with strong investment potential, highlighting improvements in trade facilitation, infrastructure development, and the diversification of the national economy.

He expressed confidence that these developments could position Cambodia as a strategic entry point for businesses seeking access to the wider ASEAN market. For her part, H.E. Mrs. Cham Nimul expressed appreciation for his active role in promoting bilateral relations throughout his tenure. She acknowledged his efforts in facilitating dialogue between public and private sectors of both countries, contributing to increased trade engagement and better mutual understanding.

H.E. Minister underscored Cambodia's commitment to maintaining an open and predictable trade environment and to further enhancing cooperation with Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern partners as part of its broader economic integration strategy. H.E. Mrs. Cham Nimul also reaffirmed Cambodia's readiness to continue building on the strong foundation of cooperation established between the two countries.
