Siem reap: Cambodia’s First Lady Lok Chumteav Dr. Pich Chanmony has donated essential relief supplies to the Siem Reap Provincial Administration for distribution to families displaced by ongoing tensions along the Cambodian-Thai border. The donation, made on September 29, included 60 cartons of mosquito nets (totaling 3,000 nets), and a quantity of soy sauce and fish sauce.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Mr. Sun Chamnan, Deputy Director of the Siem Reap Provincial Administration, stated that the donation underscores the Prime Minister’s profound concern for citizens forced to flee their homes due to the armed conflict. He confirmed that the provincial authorities would immediately begin distributing the aid to displaced families sheltering in various safety centres across Siem Reap’s districts and towns.
Mr. Chamnan noted that while a ceasefire is in place, the border situation remains unstable due to alleged repeated violations by Thai soldiers. This continued insecurity is preventing displaced families from returning to their homes and resuming their livelihoods. He emphasised that the humanitarian assistance is being provided purely in a spirit of national solidarity and is devoid of any political agenda.
Mr. Chamnan added that the provincial administration ensures all donations received from both national and international philanthropists are systematically distributed to displaced families in safety centres throughout the province, as well as to frontline areas.
