Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has appealed to his compatriots to pay attention to their respective health, especially to that of older persons.

“Today is the first day of the Water Festival which marks the end of rainy season and the beginning of cold season. Generally during cold season, cases of transmitted diseases will increase. Therefore, I’d like to appeal to people to take good care of their health, particularly that of older persons in their respective families,” said Samdech Techo Hun Sen in a special voice message this morning.

“We cannot overlook what’s going to happen. We need to be proactive. Even the armed forces, they have already been given jackets to keep them warm,” he added.

Furthermore, the Premier asked the authorities at all levels, the charitable people and the Cambodian Red Cross to pay attention to older persons without families by providing them with necessary stuff like mosquito net, blanket …, stressing that they are vulnerable to different diseases, mainly the COVID-19.

The annual Water Festival begins today throughout Cambodia. Although there is no celebration due to COVID-19 threats, people have three-day off as usual. They can travel across the country without restrictions as Cambodia has announced to reopen in all domains since Nov. 1.
