No More Land Concessions for Private Sector, Says Acting Head of State

Phnom penh: Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Acting Head of State, announced that no further land concessions will be granted to private companies. Instead, land will be reserved for allocation to poor citizens, veterans, and retirees.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, speaking at the Extraordinary Congress of the newly renamed Cambodian Veterans and Retirees Association at the Ministry of Interior this morning, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, the Association’s President, noted that Cambodia has ceased economic land concessions to private companies since 2012, and this practice will continue.

He reiterated the importance of preserving land reclaimed by the Royal Government for social purposes, ensuring it benefits landless citizens and poor veterans.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also urged the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction and the National Social Land Concession Commission to continue reviewing and assessing opportunities to provide social land to former armed forces members, veterans, and retirees in genuine need.
