Phnom penh: Since the ceasefire came into force at noon on Dec. 27, 2025, no armed clashes or exchanges of fire have been reported along the Cambodia-Thailand border. According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the positive development was highlighted by H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Spokeswoman of the Ministry of National Defence, during a press briefing this morning. She reaffirmed Cambodia's continued commitment to fully respecting and upholding the ceasefire, the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement between Cambodia and Thailand dated Oct. 26, 2025, the Joint Statement of the 3rd Special Meeting of the General Border Committee (GBC) dated Dec. 27, 2025, as well as other related agreements. H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata stressed that it is a shared responsibility for both parties to strictly and faithfully implement the ceasefire and all related agreements in good faith and with sincerity. 'These commitments must be demonstrated through concrete actions, not merely words,' she underlined. 'Any action that con tradicts the spirit and provisions of these agreements must cease immediately to ensure the strengthening and sustainability of the ceasefire.' As a highly responsible party, she added, Cambodia will continue to work closely with Thailand and other relevant partners to resolve the issue peacefully in accordance with international law, with the aim of achieving a fair, impartial, and lasting solution.
