Phnom penh: President of the Cambodian Cycling Federation (CCF), H.E. Pan Sorasak, has called for the organisation of more cycling competitions to strengthen Cambodian athletes' capacity and better prepare them for international events. He made the call while presiding over the closing ceremony of the two-day National Cycling Championships 2025, which concluded in Phnom Penh on Feb. 8. The competition provided a valuable platform for athletes to showcase their talents and assess their performance levels, he said.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Mr. Nou Chamroeun, Secretary-General of the CCF, stated that the National Cycling Championships 2025 attracted 220 participants, including technical committee officials, coaches, and athletes, with 103 cyclists representing 14 clubs nationwide. H.E. Pan Sorasak, who is also a lawmaker, urged the CCF to expand training programmes nationwide by increasing the number of athletes at cycling clubs across the country, enhancing the capacity of coaches, athletes, and event officials, and strengthening the federation's internal management structures.
He also encouraged the organisation of as many competitions as possible each year in preparation for major upcoming events, including the SEA Games 2027 in Malaysia and the Asian Youth Games 2031 to be hosted by Cambodia. The CCF president also praised the delegations leading all cycling teams that participated in the competition for their spirit of friendship, solidarity, mutual understanding, and strict compliance with the technical regulations of the competition.
