MoH and IOM Collaborate to Enhance Health Services for Migrant Workers

Phnom penh: Secretary of State at the Ministry of Health, H.E. Prof. Koy Vanny, engaged in discussions on Dec. 3 with Ms. Nellie Ghusayni, Chief of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) Mission in Cambodia, to fortify cooperation on migrant worker health and public preparedness between the two organizations.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the meeting saw H.E. Prof. Koy Vanny expressing appreciation to the IOM for its unwavering support and collaboration with Cambodia. He acknowledged their significant role in aiding the Royal Government’s initiatives to boost the health of migrant workers, improve public health readiness, and develop a more robust and inclusive healthcare system.

H.E. Prof. Koy Vanny also encouraged the IOM to action the cooperation projects that have been agreed upon, emphasizing the importance of liaising with local authorities, Provincial/Capital Health Departments, National Programmes, relevant National Centres, and public health facilities.

In response, Ms. Nellie Ghusayni praised the Royal Government of Cambodia, particularly the Ministry of Health’s leadership, for their commitment to the health of migrant and displaced families residing along the borders. She highlighted their efforts in addressing both emergency and chronic disease prevention and treatment.
