KUALA LUMPUR, A moderate earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale hit Indonesia’s Banda Sea at 8.01 pm today.

According to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), the earthquake with a depth of 113 kilometres (km) occurred at a distance of 422 km southeast of Ambon, Indonesia.

Based on the initial assessment, there is no tsunami threat to Malaysia.
