Korean Volunteers Re-dispatched to Cambodia

The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Cambodia Office has decided to re-dispatch 8 new volunteers to Cambodia thanks to the well management of the Kingdom on COVID-19 situation.

Cambodia is the first country ever to receive Korean volunteers among overseas countries after returning them back to Korea, underlined a press release of KOICA Cambodia Office AKP received this afternoon.

The new dispatched volunteers will perform their activities in Phnom Penh capital and the provinces of Banteay Meanchey, Battambang, Siem Reap and Kampot. They will share their experience on the fields of Korean language education, computer education (general) and nursing. They will contribute to the human capital and socio-economic development of Cambodia.

According to the press release, KOICA Cambodia Office has dispatched professional Korean volunteers to Cambodia to share their expertise, knowledge and experiences in order to improve the quality of life of the country and strengthen partnership and mutual understanding since 2003.

Due to COVID-19 threat, the KOICA Cambodia Office made a hard decision to send the 63 volunteers back to Korea oin March 2020.

KOICA Cambodia Office is the implementing agency of the World Friend Korea (WFK) volunteer programme which has been dispatching the Korean volunteers overseas. As of December 2021, KOICA has dispatched 777 to Cambodia. The volunteers have been performed their activities with at least 25 ministries and its subnational across the country on various fields.
