MGC Asian Traditional Textiles Museum is going to exhibit Khmer traditional clothes (Hol, Pamoung) from Prey Kabas residents in Takeo province, for the public to learn about old Khmer handicrafts.

The six-month non-permanent exhibition will start on Feb. 9 with the display of 21 fabrics, said Mr. Sen Kimsun, Acting Deputy Director of the MGC Asian Traditional Textiles Museum of the APSARA National Authority.

According to the authority’s news release, the above collection, 51 items in total, including skirts, shirts, and fabrics, is the donation of people in Prey Kabas district. The museum team went to receive the collection on May 18, 2023 and then registered for conservation, cleaning, and repair before organising an exhibition for the public. Some handkerchiefs are between 40 and 60 years old and have been carefully cared for by people before and during the Khmer Rouge era.

This is the first phase of the exhibition, said Mr. Sen Kimsun, explaining that the museum has selected 21 of the 51 items for the
event. He called on the public to visit this important exhibition in order to appreciate and learn about the artwork of the people of Prey Kabas.

MGC Asian Traditional Textiles Museum is located in Siem Reap and open for visits from Wednesday to Monday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
