Kampot to Scale Up One Village, One Product Movement

Kampot: Kampot province is set to expand its One Village, One Product (OVOP) movement to further promote quality and safe products for both the domestic market and export. Mr. Nget Savoeun, Deputy Head of the Secretariat of the Committee for Promotion of OVOP Movement, unveiled the plan in a meeting in Kampot province on Aug. 12.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Mr. Savoeun highlighted that the secretariat will prepare a better OVOP action plan to promote local products and increase quality and safe agricultural productivity. This move will not only supply the domestic market but also reduce the import of goods from neighbouring countries and contribute to attracting tourists.

Mr. Smann Vannimul, Member of the Secretariat of the Committee for Promotion of OVOP Movement in Kampot province, revealed that the committee also plans to organise a forum for producers and buyers, along with a local product exhibition in Kampot province from Aug. 29 to 31. During that occasion, the committee will consider registering about 20 additional Kampot products on the OVOP, while 57 others have already been listed.
