German Ambassador and Defence Attach© Meet Cambodian Army Chief

Phnom penh: H.E. Gen. Vong Pisen, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF), on July 17 hosted a courtesy call from H.E. Stefan Messerer, Ambassador of Germany to Cambodia, and Lieutenant Colonel Mark Steffen Gottschalk, Germany’s Defence Attach©, who is based in Hanoi. During the discussion held at the RCAF headquarters, H.E. Gen. Vong Pisen extended a warm welcome to the German delegation, emphasising that the visit would contribute to strengthening the expanding relationship and cooperation between Cambodia and Germany. He acknowledged Germany’s significant role in Cambodia’s peacebuilding efforts since 1991, including its contributions to UN peacekeeping missions, and its ongoing support for Cambodia’s development across various sectors.

 

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Gen. Vong Pisen also provided the German representatives with an update on the current situation along the Cambodia-Thailand border, ensuring the defence attach© was informed of regional developments. Ambassador Messerer, in turn, conveyed Germany’s commitment to enhancing bilateral defense cooperation with Cambodia, particularly in areas identified for future collaboration.
