GDCE Promotes Digitalisation of Customs Procedures at 3rd Cambodia Customs Forum

Phnom penh: The General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia (GDCE) and Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC) co-organised the 3rd Cambodia Customs Forum to promote the progress of digitalisation of customs procedures and public service delivery to improve trade facilitation.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the forum was held on Nov. 14 under the presidency of GDCE’s Director General H.E. Kun Nhim, alongside CCC’s President Neak Oknha Kith Meng, who also serves as Chairman of the Private Sector Coordinating Committee for the Government-Private Sector Forum (G-PSF) Mechanism. The event was attended by relevant officials from GDCE, representatives of private companies, associations, businessmen, national and international traders, and other stakeholders.

The forum’s aim was to promote the ongoing digitalisation of customs procedures and public service delivery, enhancing trade facilitation, compliance, and the business environment in Cambodia. It also provided a platform for discussion and feedback regarding practical implementation.

H.E. Kun Nhim briefed attendees on GDCE’s significant progress in recent years concerning digitalisation and the implementation of 14 measures related to trade facilitation under customs jurisdiction, which were introduced by the Prime Minister at the 19th Royal Government-Private Sector Forum.

Oknha Kith Meng acknowledged the advancements and adjustments in simplifying customs procedures, which have created a more favorable environment for investors to manage their import and export transactions.
