Four Cambodian Soldiers Injured in Explosion Near Cambodia-Thailand Border

Oddar meanchey: Four Cambodian soldiers were injured in an explosion while on patrol near the Cambodia-Thailand border in Oddar Meanchey province on Sunday, according to the Ministry of National Defence.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the ministry's spokeswoman, in a press release issued this afternoon, stated that the incident occurred at about 12:35 p.m. in a cashew plantation in Chouk Kruos village, Thmar Don village, Kouk Mon commune, Banteay Ampil district. The statement detailed that Cambodian forces were conducting a routine patrol when they encountered a patrol from the Royal Thai Armed Forces operating on the opposite side of a barbed-wire fence. Shortly after the two patrols passed each other, an explosive device detonated behind the Cambodian patrol, resulting in shrapnel wounds to four personnel.

The injured soldiers are currently receiving medical treatment from military medical teams and relevant personnel, as confirmed by the ministry. The statement further revealed that the frontline command post and technical experts have initiated a comprehensive investigation to determine the cause of the explosion and establish the facts surrounding the incident.

The Royal Government and the Ministry of National Defence reaffirmed Cambodia's commitment to fully implementing the Joint Statement of the Third Special Meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) of Dec. 27, 2025, the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement between Cambodia and Thailand signed on Oct. 26, 2025, and other relevant agreements. The ministry emphasized Cambodia's continued commitment to respecting these agreements to facilitate a rapid return to normalcy and promote lasting peace and stability along the border.
