Phnom penh: Foreign parliamentary leaders have highly praised Cambodia's successful hosting of the Second Inter-Parliamentary Speakers' Conference (ISC-2) in Phnom Penh, describing the gathering as an important platform for advancing global peace, democracy, unity, and respect for international law. According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Dr. Pierre Flambeau Ngayap, a Cameroonian Senator, expressed his appreciation for Cambodia's hosting of the ISC-2. He stated that the conference facilitated fruitful discussions and debates, which hold the potential to contribute to global peace in the future. Dr. Ngayap emphasized Cameroon's consistent participation since the conference's inception, underscoring their belief in its role in promoting democracy and international law. H.E. Sultan Baktiar Najamudin, Speaker of the Regional Representative Council of the Republic of Indonesia, also commended Cambodia for the effective preparations and successful hosting of ISC-2. He highlighted the conference as a significan t forum for dialogues on enhancing world peace and prosperity. Najamudin further noted Indonesia's upcoming role as host for ISC-3, aiming to increase participation beyond the 30 countries present at ISC-2. Najamudin praised the Phnom Penh Declaration, adopted at the conference, as comprehensive and reflective of global needs. ISC-2, organised by the Senate of Cambodia, concluded in Phnom Penh on August 28, drawing 130 delegates from 30 countries and various international organisations. The ISC series began in South Korea in April 2025, with the inaugural conference held in Islamabad, Pakistan, themed 'Peace, Security and Development'.
