Phnom penh: A three-day Digital Dialogue led by the ABC International Development (ABCID) kicked off today in Phnom Penh with an aim to strengthen collaboration with Cambodia’s media sector in the digital era. Supported by the Australian Government, the Digital Dialogue is an opportunity for journalists, reporters, and media professionals from a range of outlets to discuss emerging challenges in the media sector, share their experiences and insights, and learn from experts.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, participants will discuss and learn about building digital resilience in local media environments, effective and ethical use of artificial intelligence in media, and practical tools for producing quality mobile and digital journalism. Ms. Bridget Collier, Deputy Head of Mission at the Australian Embassy, stated journalism’s important role in promoting transparency and accountability, helping citizens make informed decisions about their lives and their communities. She expressed hope that the course would provide space for reflection on writing styles and encourage connections among journalists.
ABC International Development, the international arm of the Australian national public broadcaster, has worked with media organizations across the Indo-Pacific, sharing expertise, training, and technical support to strengthen independent journalism and build resilient media landscapes. The workshop’s topics include Digital Transformation and Media Viability and Digital Literacy and AI for Journalists. These areas are crucial for ensuring accuracy, credibility, and public trust in journalism.
While technologies and platforms may evolve, the core principles of journalism remain constant: a commitment to truth, a dedication to the public interest, and a passion for telling stories that matter.
