Phnom penh: The Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA) and the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia have praised the strong and effective cooperation on mine action in Cambodia, reaffirming their commitment to continued collaboration to save lives and improve people's living standards. According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the remarks were made during a meeting held at the Chinese Embassy in Phnom Penh between H.E. Dr. Ly Thuch, Senior Minister and First Vice President of CMAA, and H.E. Wang Wenbin, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Cambodia. On the occasion, H.E. Dr. Ly Thuch spoke of the achievements made in Cambodia's mine action sector and expressed appreciation to the Chinese government and people for their continued support. This assistance includes demining operations, technical skills transfer, capacity development, explosive ordnance risk education, victim assistance, and support for the implementation of the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation on Mine Action project. He also tha nked China for providing emergency assistance for explosive ordnance clearance and humanitarian support to assist refugees affected by the Cambodia-Thailand conflict. In addition, H.E. Dr. Ly Thuch valued China's contributions to mine action efforts that directly address the priority needs of people at the grassroots level, contributing to accident reduction and community safety. For his part, H.E. Wang Wenbin underlined the importance of close cooperation between the CMAA and the Chinese Embassy, which has resulted in progress in Cambodia's mine action sector. He reaffirmed the Chinese government's continued support for mine action in Cambodia, stressing that mine action remains a priority area of Cambodia-China cooperation aimed at saving lives and improving the living conditions of the Cambodian people.
