Civil Servants, Youths Celebrate 32nd Constitution Day in Phnom Penh

Phnom penh: Civil servants and youths gathered today to celebrate the 32nd anniversary of Constitution Day, honouring the nation’s supreme law. The ceremony, held at the Constitution Monument near the Independence Monument in Phnom Penh, marked the promulgation of the 1993 Constitution, a historic document safeguarding the rights, freedoms, and interests of the Cambodian people.

 

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, participants expressed their deep appreciation for the Constitution’s role in ensuring peace, stability, and sustainable national development. They also underlined its importance as a framework for the rule of law, guiding the Royal Government of Cambodia in its commitment to progress and good governance.

 

Lt. Gen. Lim Tong Huot, Director of the Department of Promotion, Education, and Public Relations of the National Authority for Combating Drugs (NACD) General Secretariat, was among the civil servants and youths attending the celebration. ‘Participating in this event shows a unified commitment to upholding the values of the Constitution,’ he said.

 

Mr. Nim Pheara, a member of the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia, added: ‘The participation of young people in law enforcement is essential to ensure peace and continuous development. We commend the Royal Government for its consistent implementation of the Constitution.’

 

The Constitution was officially promulgated on Sept. 24, 1993, by His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Norodom Sihanouk, then King of Cambodia.
