Cambodian Tourism Minister Meets Malacca Governor to Strengthen Tourism Cooperation

Malacca: Cambodian Minister of Tourism H.E. Huot Hak met with TUN Seri Stia Dr. Haji Mohd Ali Bin Mohd Rustam, Governor of the State of Malacca, Malaysia, and President of the Dunia Melayu Dunia Islam (DMDI), in Malacca on Sept. 28, on the sidelines of the World Tourism Conference 2025.

 

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Huot Hak briefed the Governor on Cambodia’s political, social, economic, and tourism situation, highlighting the close cooperation in the tourism sector between the two countries.

 

The Minister also expressed his gratitude to DMDI for selecting Cambodia as the host of the 21st DMDI Conference, held for the first time in Phnom Penh on Sept. 23, 2023, and praised its numerous humanitarian contributions in Cambodia, particularly in education, religion, and social assistance.

 

DMDI is a platform that unites member countries, Malay Muslim communities, and entrepreneurs from 23 nations with Muslim populations to promote cooperation across multiple fields. Cambodia has been a member since 2012.

 

During their talks, both sides discussed expanding cooperation in medical tourism, religious tourism, culinary tourism, educational tourism, MICE tourism (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions), sports tourism, and youth exchanges.

 

For his part, the Malacca Governor pledged to help promote Muslim tourism between Cambodia and Malacca, encourage DMDI network investors-especially in the tourism sector-to invest in Cambodia, and continue supporting humanitarian projects in the Kingdom.
