Paris: Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet arrived in France on Tuesday for talks with French President Emmanuel Macron and to attend a high-level global health summit, in a visit aimed at elevating bilateral ties toward a strategic partnership.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the April 6-9 trip, undertaken at Macron's invitation, comes as Cambodia seeks to broaden cooperation with France across political, security, economic, and cultural sectors, Royal Government Spokesperson Pen Bona said.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and President Macron are expected to discuss expanding collaboration and aligning positions on regional and global issues, as well as preparations for the Francophonie Summit to be hosted by Phnom Penh later this year.

The Cambodian leader will also participate in the One Health Summit in Lyon on April 7, a flagship event under France's 2026 presidency of the Group of Seven. The summit brings together world leaders, scientists, and international organizations to address interconnected human, animal, and environmental health challenges.

Accompanying the Prime Minister are the First Lady Lok Chumteav Dr. Pich Chanmony, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Affairs Prak Sokhonn, and other senior officials.

The visit underscores Cambodia's active diplomacy following recent engagements in the United States and Europe. Recent developments along the Cambodia-Thailand border have also drawn international attention, with foreign partners and media closely monitoring the situation.

Cambodia has lodged formal and repeated protests against violations of its sovereignty and territorial integrity, rejecting any unilateral claims or actions by Thailand. Cambodia has called on Thailand to immediately halt such activities, avoid unilateral measures, reduce tensions, and work toward building mutual trust to ensure lasting peace along the border, the Royal Government spokesman said.
