Phnom penh: Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet emphasized the necessity of frequent exchanges of visits between Cambodia and Malaysia’s executive and legislative branches to enhance bilateral relations. The Cambodian leader made these comments during a courtesy call from a delegation of the Parliamentary Federation for World Peace (PFWP) Malaysia, headed by its Chairman, H.E. Dr. Mohd Hatta, who is also a member of the Malaysian Senate, at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Samdech Thipadei extended a warm welcome to H.E. Dr. Mohd Hatta and his delegation, expressing his satisfaction with the ongoing development of Cambodia-Malaysia relations and the collaboration in essential areas, including legislative efforts. The Cambodian Premier highlighted the significance of such visits in fostering and expanding ties between the two nations.
H.E. Dr. Mohd Hatta, on his part, expressed his delight at leading the Malaysian parliamentary delegation to Cambodia and commended the country’s continuous progress. He also acknowledged the active participation of the Cambodian parliamentary delegation in the recent 46th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) held in Malaysia, indicating that he was confident that such engagements would further enhance cooperation between the two countries’ parliaments.
During the meeting, both leaders discussed cooperation in various key sectors such as politics, trade, economy, national defense, and people-to-people exchanges. Samdech Thipadei also took the opportunity to extend his profound gratitude to H.E. Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, for facilitating the recent ceasefire agreement between Cambodia and Thailand, as well as for Malaysia’s role in coordinating and leading the Interim Observer Team (IOT) to monitor its implementation along the Cambodia-Thailand border.
