As today marks the one-year anniversary of Russia-Ukraine war, Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen said Cambodia is looking forward to the reaction of superpowers.

“Today is the one-year anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. We are waiting to see and hear the statements of superpowers on this issue,” he said at the graduation ceremony for more than 7,000 students of the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP) at Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Centre in Phnom Penh this morning.

The issue is complicated and is also related to Cambodia, he continued, adding that it has affected food supply and created inflation.

According to the Premier, Cambodia has been working hard to strengthen its food management, therefore the food situation as well as inflation in Cambodia are well controlled. “We want a lower inflation rate, but it can no more drop,” he said.

The most important thing is the oil prices, if they go up, the prices of goods on the market also go up, explained Samdech Techo Hun Sen, stressing that it is the problem for all countries, not just for Cambodia.

Anyway, he said, Cambodia is lucky that the economy of two of its neighbours is good. Vietnam has good economic growth and low inflation, while Thailand’s economy is good as well, except Laos which has faced high inflation, up to 40 percent.
