Cambodian PM Expresses Congratulations to Muslim Community on Ramadan

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet this evening sent a message to the Muslim community, expressing his congratulations to them on the Ramadan.

‘On behalf of the Royal Government of Cambodia of the 7th legislature of the National Assembly, my wife and I would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all Cambodian Muslims residing within Cambodia and abroad, as well as to all the Muslim people around the world, on the commencement of the sacred month of Ramadan, beginning on Tuesday, the 12th of March 2024, in Cambodia,’ he stated in his message.

Samdech Thipadei Prime Minister expressed his profound appreciation to all Cambodian Muslims as well as all the Cambodian people, for their contributions to maintaining peace, and racial and religious harmonisation, and for the unwavering trust in his leadership, in that of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Supreme Privy Council to His Majesty the King, and the former Prime Minister, as w
ell as in that of the Cambodian People’s Party.

‘Building upon the initiatives of the preceding legislature, and as a testament to the Royal Government’s commitment to supporting the religious practices of our Muslim citizens, the Royal Government will organise the 8th National Ramadan Iftar Dinner in Phnom Penh, on March 21, 2024, with the participation of approximately 6,200 national and international guests,’ he underlined.

This year’s gathering will be enriched by the participation of over 400 esteemed individuals from 39 different nationalities, including a representative of the Secretary General of the Organisation for Islamic Cooperation (OIC), H.E. Wan Muhamadnoor Matha, President of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Thailand, and former senior leaders from neighbouring countries, Samdech Thipadei pointed out.

‘Once again, I would like to convey my heartfelt wishes of happiness and success to all Cambodian Muslims residing within Cambodia and abroad, as well as to all Muslims worldwide, as th
ey observe the religious practices of Ramadan 2024,’ concluded the Premier.

Ramadan is the holy month of the Muslim communities, which is determined by the sighting of the new moon. During this holy month, Muslims abstain from food, drink, and other physical needs to purify the soul, refocus attention to their faith, and practice self-sacrifice. The Iftar is the evening meal Muslims have to break their fast during Ramadan.
