Tokyo: Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, conducted individual meetings with top executives from four prominent Japanese companies in Tokyo on May 28, during his official visit to Japan.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the executives in attendance included Mr. YOSHIHISA Kainuma, Chairman and CEO of Minebea Mitsumi Inc.; Mr. OKUMURA Yusuke, President of KOUA SHOJI Co., Ltd.; Mr. HIROKI Kuriyama, President and CEO of NTT DOCOMO GLOBAL Inc.; and Mr. MAEDA Tadashi, Chairman and CEO of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC). They informed the Prime Minister about their companies’ current operations and expressed an interest in expanding their ventures in Cambodia.
Mr. YOSHIHISA Kainuma of Minebea Mitsumi Inc. conveyed his gratitude to the Cambodian government for its ongoing support, revealing that the construction of a new factory in Cambodia is anticipated to be completed by year-end. He identified Cambodia as a favorable destination for foreign investment.
Mr. OKUMURA Yusuke of KOUA SHOJI Co., Ltd. discussed the company’s activities in Cambodia since 2015, including collaborations with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on waste recycling projects in Svay Rieng province. He also outlined new initiatives for mobile and container-based waste recycling, developed with Japanese partners to broaden their operations.
Mr. HIROKI Kuriyama of NTT DOCOMO GLOBAL Inc. announced the company’s intention to investigate investment prospects in Cambodia’s digital sector, aiming to assist in the development of the country’s digital economy and society through advanced technologies.
JBIC’s Mr. MAEDA Tadashi expressed the bank’s interest in supporting Cambodia’s development initiatives, particularly in infrastructure, energy, waste management, and clean energy sectors, to help achieve the government’s socio-economic objectives.
In his response, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet welcomed the investment interests and outlined government policies and incentives designed to support foreign investors. He emphasized Cambodia’s commitment to maintaining a competitive, business-friendly environment and highlighted various sectors ripe for investment.
The Prime Minister encouraged the companies to engage with relevant Cambodian ministries and institutions to explore specific opportunities and strengthen cooperation.
