Cambodian FM to Join Third EU Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum and ASEAN-EU Ministerial Meeting in Brussels


H.E. SOK Chenda Sophea, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, will take part in the Third European Union Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum and the 24th ASEAN-European Union Ministerial Meeting in Brussels on Feb. 1-2, 2024.

The participation will be made at the invitation of H.E. Josep BORRELL FONTELLES, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, said a press release of the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Internatioanl Cooperation issued this morning.

At the Indo-Pacific forum, the source pointed out, the Deputy Prime Minister will speak about shared prosperity, economic resilience and investment with the aim of invigorating cooperation and partnerships between the two regions and capitalising on strengths to inject new impetus into inclusive growth and sustainable development.

According to the press release, the 24th ASEAN-European Union Ministerial Meeti
ng will be co-chaired by the Republic of the Philippines, as the current country coordinator for ASEAN-EU Dialogue Relations, and the EU. Foreign ministers will follow up on decisions made at the ASEAN-EU Commemorative Summit on 14 December 2022. They will also review progress in implementing the ASEAN-EU Plan of Action (2023-2027). In addition, ministers will exchange views on future directions as well as regional and international issues of common concern and interest to advance the ASEAN-EU Strategic Partnership and collective commitments for maintaining peace, security, stability, and prosperity for the two regions and their peoples.

During his stay in Brussels, it added, the Deputy Prime Minister is scheduled to have separate meetings with counterparts from various EU member states and development partners to further strengthen bilateral ties and cooperation.
