Cambodian and Japanese Red Cross Youth Collaborate on Peace and Climate Initiatives

Phnom penh: The Cambodian Red Cross (CRC) facilitated an experience-sharing forum on Sunday, bringing together its youth volunteers and a visiting delegation from the Japanese Red Cross Society's Hiroshima Branch. The event, aimed at fostering collaboration on peace, climate change, and disaster management, was presided over by CRC Second Vice Secretary-General H.E. You Lana and Japanese delegation head Mr. Takaaki Shantani.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the forum saw the participation of 95 officials and youth volunteers. The Japanese delegation's presentations served as a foundation for group discussions focused on these critical global issues. Mr. Shantani expressed gratitude for the CRC's hospitality during their five-day visit and highlighted that the accomplishments from the trip would be incorporated into a five-year Memorandum of Understanding between the two societies.

H.E. You Lana emphasized that the forum was instrumental in identifying challenges and strengths, which will contribute to developing a comprehensive action plan for 2026. This plan includes a reciprocal visit by 12 Cambodian youth to Hiroshima, further strengthening the partnership. At the conclusion of the forum, certificates were awarded to the members of the Japanese delegation, marking the successful collaboration between the two Red Cross societies.
