Phnom penh: Cambodia's National Committee for Counter Trafficking (NCCT) will launch a nationwide campaign in support of Safer Internet Day 2026 on Tuesday, under the theme 'Safe, Ethical and Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)', aimed at promoting safer and more responsible digital technology use.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the campaign seeks to reduce online fraud, exploitation, and grooming, with a particular focus on protecting children and young people from online risks. It also aims to raise public awareness of ethical and responsible AI use in an increasingly digital society.
The official event will be held on the morning of Feb. 17 at the Royal University of Agriculture under the chairmanship of H.E. Abhisantibindit Sar Sokha, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior, and NCCT Chairperson. Approximately 2,500 participants are expected to attend, including representatives from ministries and institutions, university administrators, teachers, students, members of the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia, scouts, and the Cambodian Red Cross.
The campaign is jointly organised in cooperation with the National Council for Children, the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, the Ministry of Information, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, with technical support from development partners and digital service providers.
