Cambodia to Host 2nd Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference

Phnom penh: Cambodia is honored to host the 2nd Inter-Parliamentary Speakers' Conference (ISC-2), reaffirming the country's commitment to addressing global challenges through parliamentary diplomacy, solidarity, and cooperation among parliaments and inter-parliamentary organizations. The conference, to be jointly hosted by the Senate and the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia at the request of the Founding President of the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers' Conference, will take place from Aug. 26 to 28, 2026, at the General Department of Taxation Convention Centre in Phnom Penh.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, ISC-2 will be held under the theme 'Solidarity for Peace and Shared Prosperity: Strengthening International Law and Resolving Conflicts Peacefully.' The honor of hosting the international gathering reflects Cambodia's unwavering commitment to promoting peace and shared prosperity, strengthening international law, and encouraging the peaceful settlement of conflicts amid today's rapidly changing global environment.

The conference will bring together Speakers of Parliament, representatives of parliamentary speakers, heads of inter-parliamentary organizations, relevant international organizations, and parliamentary delegations from Asia, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Oceania, and Latin America. His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, has graciously granted a Royal Message to be delivered at the opening ceremony.

The opening ceremony will also feature remarks by Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of Cambodia and President of ISC-2; H.E. Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani, Founding President of ISC and Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan; Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia; and the Secretary-General of ISC, along with other national and international dignitaries. The speakers will share their visions on strengthening parliamentary diplomacy and international cooperation to contribute to lasting peace and prosperity.

During the plenary session, H.E. Ouch Borith, First Vice-President of the Senate and High Representative of Samdech Techo, and H.E. Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani will co-chair the general debate. Parliamentary leaders, representatives of parliamentary speakers, heads of inter-parliamentary organizations, and representatives of relevant international organizations will exchange perspectives, knowledge, and experiences and put forward recommendations to address pressing global challenges.

H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, will also deliver a special remark during the plenary session. As part of the program, all heads of delegations will be granted a Royal Audience by His Majesty the King, followed by courtesy calls on Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate, and Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia.

Delegates will also have the opportunity to visit an exhibition showcasing Cambodia's culture, trade, industry, tourism, and development achievements, as well as major cultural sites in Phnom Penh. At the conclusion of the three-day conference, Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly of Cambodia, will deliver the closing remarks.
