Cambodia to Further Enhance Cooperation with UN

Cambodia: Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, reiterated Cambodia’s commitment to further fostering cooperation with the United Nations, according to the Ministry’s press release AKP received this morning. During a recent meeting with H.E. Ant³nio Guterres, UN Secretary-General, on the sidelines of the General Debate of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA80) in New York, H.E. Prak Sokhonn reaffirmed that Cambodia places a great trust in the UN to promote multilateralism, rule-based international order, peaceful resolution of dispute, and the respect for the principles of the UN Charter and international laws.

 

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Prak Sokhonn also reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to continue to offer Cambodian humble contribution to the peacekeeping operation, and is ready to participate in any mission proposed by the UN, and contribute to humanitarian aid and to combat the impact of climate change. For his part, H.E. Ant³nio Guterres expressed his appreciation for the excellent partnership between the UN and Cambodia, particularly Cambodia’s role as a troop-contributing country and its active participation in the trilateral training cooperation. He commended Cambodia’s remarkable progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals and highlighted Cambodia’s constructive and supportive engagement in multilateral processes.
