Phnom penh: Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has reiterated Cambodia’s firm stance on the reopening of border crossings with Thailand, emphasizing a three-point policy that is clear and consistent. The Prime Minister made the remarks in a social media post this afternoon, following the continued spread of false information and misinformation by extremist groups that have caused public confusion over the issue.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Samdech Thipadei underscored that Cambodia’s policy for reopening the border remains unchanged, outlined as follows: Thailand must unilaterally declare the reopening of the border first and guarantee that there will be no further unilateral closures in the future. Additionally, all border crossings must be reopened at the same time, with no selective or partial openings. Furthermore, the border crossings must be reopened to their previous operational status before June 7, which means all border crossings are open from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and for both people and goods.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed that Cambodia would reopen its side of the border crossings within five hours after all the procedures are completed on the Thai side. This statement aims to dispel any confusion and reassure the public and stakeholders of Cambodia’s commitment to ensuring a smooth and coordinated border reopening process.
