Cambodia Pledges Full Cooperation with Korean Task Force to Battle Transnational Crime

Phnom penh: Cambodia has pledged its full commitment to collaborate with the Republic of Korea’s newly established Task Force to intensify the joint fight against transnational organised crime, particularly technology-related fraud and cyber scams.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Senior Minister in charge of Special Mission, H.E. Santepundit Chhay Sinarith, who serves as Head of the Secretariat of the Commission for Combating Online Crimes, affirmed Cambodia’s readiness for coordination during a meeting here this morning with H.E. Park Il, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea in Charge of Special Mission and his accompanying delegation.

The discussions between the two sides focused on strengthening cross-border security cooperation. H.E. Santepundit Chhay Sinarith emphasised the strong strategic partnership between Cambodia and the Republic of Korea. He referenced a recent discussion between the top leaders of both nations on the sidelines of the ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where they reac
hed an agreement in principle to establish a Joint Task Force dedicated to combating transnational crimes, including cyber fraud.

The Senior Minister highlighted the significant strides made by Cambodian authorities in recent operations to crack down on online fraud. He acknowledged that while notable progress has been achieved, the complete eradication of such complex crimes requires sustained effort and continued collaboration among all relevant stakeholders.
