Cambodia: Cambodian social security officials have launched a targeted awareness campaign to integrate returning migrant workers from Thailand into the national welfare system, offering a specialised suite of healthcare, pension, and employment benefits.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the initiative, led by the National Social Security Fund (NSSF), aims to provide a safety net for workers transitioning back into the domestic labour market. Experts from the NSSF spent the weekend briefing returnees on occupational risk insurance, healthcare coverage, and the Royal Government's pension scheme.

The outreach was part of a larger multi-agency "Job Fair and Vocational Training Forum" held across Kratie and Kampong Thom provinces. The event was a collaborative effort between the NSSF, the National Employment Agency (NEA), the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC), and local provincial administrations.

Beyond social welfare, the forum served as a critical recruitment hub. Representatives from numerous enterprises, factories, and private firms were on-site to conduct direct interviews for thousands of vacant positions. "This forum acts as a vital bridge," organizers noted, adding that returnees received personalised career counseling and information on vocational training programmes designed to enhance technical skills and boost household income.

The two-day event, which concluded Sunday, operated across four strategic locations, including Snuol and Chhlong districts in Kratie, and Prasat Balaing and Staung districts in Kampong Thom.
